When Aboitiz Construction began shaping communities five decades ago, sustainability was not yet a formal mandate, but it was already part of who we are. We built with care, with purpose, and with people at the center of every project.
As the world evolved and expectations grew, we recognized the need to be more intentional. So two years ago, we formally embarked on our sustainability journey, a path we chose proactively. Today, that early instinct for responsible growth continues to guide us as we fulfill our purpose of building for businesses to prosper and communities to thrive.
“Our sustainability efforts are a natural extension of how we’ve always operated — responsibly and with purpose,” shares Antonio Peñalver, Executive Director of Aboitiz Construction. “We’ve always believed that progress must benefit not just businesses, but the communities and environments that support them.”
Because sustainability for us is not compliance. It is commitment.
In 2023, we strengthened this direction by developing our Sustainability Framework, anchored on our Material Topics, the issues most significant to our business, our workforce, and our stakeholders.
To put the framework into action, we established the Sustainability Technical Working Group, a cross-functional team responsible for gathering data, assessing our performance, and reinforcing accountability throughout our operations.
This collaboration led to a milestone: the publication of our first-ever online Sustainability Report. It reflected not only our progress but also the transparency and responsibility we want to uphold. And through this journey, one truth became clear: this is a learning process for all of us.
Each contribution, spanning from project sites to support teams, shapes how we grow as a company that builds responsibly.
Our corporate citizenship programs and volunteerism activities are now aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, ensuring our initiatives in education, disaster resilience, environment, and livelihood, we are ensuring that the help we extend genuinely uplifts communities in meaningful and sustainable ways.

This evolution is part of our Great Transformation, a transformation that begins with our people, how we think, how we work, and how we view the impact we create.
Sustainability is also shaping how we plan for the future of our business. It guides how we choose partners, how we manage resources, and how we make strategic decisions.
By embedding ESG thinking into everyday processes, we are strengthening operational discipline, future-proofing our capabilities, and ensuring that the value we create extends beyond our projects—reaching the communities, industries, and lives we touch.
“Sustainability is part of our Great Transformation because it changes the way we think, the way we work, and the way we create value, we are not just constructing structures and providing maintenance services, we are adding value to our stakeholders and the environment,” says Karmine Andrea Ching, Aboitiz Constructions Senior AVP for Business Transformation.
Looking ahead, we will continue strengthening our efforts by establishing clear ESG Key Performance Indicators that are measurable, attainable, and aligned with business success. These KPIs will guide how we plan, decide, and deliver to ensure that every project is Engineered for Excellence not only in performance, but in purpose.
Our journey continues. And as we move forward, we continue to fulfill our purpose which is to build for businesses to prosper and communities to thrive.
