Gratitude From Communities Pours In For Aboitiz

As the Aboitiz Group intensifies relief efforts and deepens collaboration with the public and private sectors battling COVID-19, beneficiaries have expressed gratitude and appreciation for the support extended by the company in these trying times.

By mobilizing its business units across the country, the Group has turned over thousands of critical medical supplies including personal protective equipment (PPE) to our healthcare personnel at the frontlines.

Complementing similar efforts in Metro Manila where Aboitiz has partnered with Lalamove to streamline the delivery of medical supplies, Visayan Electric has delivered more than 1,500 N95 masks, 10,000 pairs of nitrile gloves, and 1,300 safety goggles to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, the designated COVID-19 testing facility in the Visayas.

“In this challenging time with COVID-19 pandemic, we are grateful to have a very supportive community who looks into the welfare of our healthcare workers,” Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center said in a statement.

Pilmico, which has embarked on a 30-day food donation drive for frontliners, has also been recognized in a song penned by Senator Tito Sotto for all those manning the frontlines.

The Aboitiz Group also joins a consortium of private companies that commit to convert major facilities in Metro Manila into instant hospitals as a way to reduce the strain on the country’s health infrastructure.

Together with hospital design expert Arch. Dan Lichauco and 17 private enterprises that have signed up to the cause, Aboitiz is working closely with the government to create comfortable healthcare facilities divided into air-conditioned cubicles and equipped with free food and internet connection.

“The Aboitiz Group is one with the government and our brave medical and security frontliners who are working hard to defeat COVID-19. We are committed to supporting the COVID-19 frontliners for the long term,” added SMA.
