The GT Cup Challenge was officially launched during the most recent AEV Connect on March 12, 2025, with John Rubio, Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer, introducing this year’s gamified approach to driving Great Transformation (GT) at AEV. This is a dynamic competition where participation fuels progress, and Corporate Strategic Units (CSUs) battle it out for the top spot.
The goal is to manifest and apply the techglomerate capabilities, behavioral mindsets, and health & wellness into the way we work, one challenge at a time. By completing activities, earning points, and engaging with transformation initiatives, teams will climb the leaderboard and compete for the GT Cup Championship by year-end.
More than just a competition, GT Cup is a structured way to accelerate the Great Transformation, encouraging employees to build future-ready skills, adopt new ways of thinking, and actively contribute to Aboitiz’s journey as the Philippines’ first techglomerate. It’s about making transformation a shared, continuous effort rather than a one-time initiative.
How do you earn points?
Individuals and CSUs earn points by participating in activities under three key pillars: Techglomerate Capabilities, Behavioral Mindset, and Health & Wellness.
Participants can gain up to five points for their presence in an activity and another five points for active participation. Leaderboards will be updated monthly, with top performers recognized quarterly. By the end of the year, the GT Cup Champion will be named based on cumulative points.
The First Challenge: CSU Crest Challenge
The competition begins with the CSU Crest Challenge, where each CSU will design their own Crest, a symbol of their identity and commitment to transformation. More than just a visual exercise, this challenge encourages teams to tap into their creativity and innovative-thinking, experimenting with new tools and AI platforms to bring their ideas to life.
Whether through AEV- approved design software or AI-generated art, teams are encouraged to push boundaries, explore different prompts, and experiment with emerging technologies. The Crest Challenge is an opportunity to reimagine how we express transformation, blending strategy with creativity to set the tone for the GT Cup.
Extending the Challenge Beyond AEV
While the GT Cup is an AEV initiative, it serves as a model for other Strategic Business Units to create their own versions of gamified transformation. For more details on how the GT Cup works and how to start a challenge in your own SBU, visit the GT Cup Microsite: HERE
The competition has started. The only question is, who will take the lead?
