Key government energy officials and representatives from AboitizPower headlined “Energy! Power!”, a blocktime radio program airing on DZRH News, done in partnership with the Department of Energy (DOE) and in celebration of the National Energy Consciousness Month.
The program serves as a platform to discuss major government energy policies and initiatives, and showcase how AboitizPower, through its business units and subsidiaries, continues to help power these efforts on the ground.
Airing every Saturday and Sunday from November to December, “Energy! Power!” aims to expand the public’s understanding of energy issues while strengthening the AboitizPower brand as a trusted partner in nation-building through its efforts to further the energy transition.
The pilot episode, which aired on November 23, 2025, focused on the Department of Energy’s (DoE) Sitio Electrification Program.

DOE Undersecretary Mario Marasigan and Engr. Jerome Ryan Deleonio, Engineering Manager and Sitio Electrification Program Lead of Davao Light and Power Company, discussed the Sitio Electrification Program, which seeks to electrify remote, far-flung towns and transform the lives of families through opportunities and livelihoods borne of energy access. The episode highlighted Davao Light’s efforts to bring safe and reliable electricity to underserved communities within its franchise area.

Department of Education Undersecretary Malcolm Garma and Fermin Edillon, Marketing and Communications Head of Davao Light and Power Company, discussed the electrification of communities and schools in last-mile areas in Davao. Through AuroraPH, an initiative of the Aboitiz Foundation, in partnership with Davao Light within its franchise area, schools in Sitio Kabangbang in the Marilog District of Davao City were finally provided with electricity via solar panels, powering classrooms and providing internet connectivity, and thereby giving students better access to education.

DOE Undersecretary Mylene Capongcol broke down major energy sources in the Philippines and how the country is accelerating its transition toward sustainable energy solutions. Alexander Coo, Chief Operating Officer of Aboitiz Renewables, Inc., laid down the current energy portfolio of Aboitiz Renewables. In step with the Philippines’ ambition of having a 35% share of renewable energy in its power generation mix by 2030, AboitizPower is constantly pursuing opportunities to grow its portfolio for solar, hydro, geothermal, wind, and energy storage systems.

Marc Louie Olap, Chief of the DOE’s Rural Electrification Administration and Management Division, explained the salient provisions of Energy Regulations No. 1-94 (ER 1-94), which mandates a contribution of P0.01 per kilowatt-hour of electricity sales by energy-generating facilities to host communities. Visayan Electric, represented by Nico Arancillo, Senior Assistant Vice President for Engineering Technical Support, discussed the distribution utility’s Free House Wiring Program in Cebu, which is supported by an electrification fund under ER 1-94.
