The Aboitiz Group, through its power business units and team members, have extended a much-needed helping hand to aid local communities affected by the impact of COVID-19 in Mindanao.
Recently, AboitizPower distribution utility Cotabato Light team donated medical supplies to equip the frontliners at the Cotabato Regional and Medical Center (CRMC). These donations came at a crucial time as the CRMC continues to serve as one of the region’s primary care centers amidst COVID-19.

The items distributed include 11,000 surgical masks, 1,000 nitrile gloves, 9,000 surgical gloves, 371 safety goggles, 14 infrared thermometers, 371 digital contact thermometers, and 12 liters of alcohol.
We are very grateful for the incredible work that our frontliners willingly provide during these current times, and we at Cotabato Light and the Aboitiz Group are pleased to lend our full support in making sure that they are properly equipped with all they need.
– Val Saludes, President & COO, Cotabato Light
The frontliners serving at the medical center expressed their profound gratitude for the tremendous support towards the fight against the spread of COVID-19.
The support provided by Cotabato Light and the Aboitiz Foundation allowed us to remain responsive to the demands of the current public health emergency. [This] institution has served as a beacon of light and hope in this difficult battle.
– Dr. Helen P. Yambao, Medical Center Chief, CRMC
Cotabato Light had also previously donated various food items to the local government units (LGU) within its franchise areas of Cotabato City and the municipalities of Sultan Kudarat and Datu Odin Sinsuat. These included 3,648 assorted canned goods and 125 sacks of rice. The mayors of all three LGUs were very thankful to Cotabato Light and the Aboitiz Foundation for the generosity extended to them.
To date, there are over 100 COVID-19 cases in Mindanao, majority of which hail from Davao City.
Meantime, Mindanao-based team members from the Aboitiz Group — AEV, AboitizPower, Apo Agua, TMI, Davao Light, and Cotabato Light — were able to raise a total of Php 479,200 out of their own pockets.
Through a fundraising campaign, team members of AEV, AboitizPower, Apo Agua and TMI were able to donate PPEs and large containers of alcohol to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC), the Davao City Health Office, and the Davao Regional Medical Center (DRMC) in Tagum City.
Also from the said amount, Davao Light donated 300 face shields, 5,000 pairs of medical gloves, and 30 liters of alcohol to SPMC, while Cotabato Light were able to procure and distribute 200 pieces of PPEs, 4,000 surgical masks, 300 washable masks, 300 face shields, 200 shoe covers, and liters of alcohol to the Cotabato Regional and Medical Center (CRMC) and the Cotabato City Health Office.

The donations were met with great appreciation by medical frontliners, as the country continues its battle to combat the effects of COVID-19.
The PPEs and medical supplies will be a huge help in fighting this pandemic, and a confidence boost to our frontliners. Thank you to the Aboitiz Group for thinking of our frontliners.
– Dr. Joy Villafuerte, officer of the Davao City Health Office
