Aboitiz Women’s Club Promotes Beauty IN and OUT

By Marinel Mangubat

At one of its meetings early in the year, the Aboitiz Women’s Club (AWC), a group of women empowering other women in the Aboitiz Group by involving them in various activities, had a discussion about having personal care project. They believe skills and know-how in proper skin and hair care as well as hair and makeup are worth having especially for occasions like the Aboitiz annual special gatherings. Likewise, learning how to take care of themselves properly will also help them gain confidence about their physical assets while saving on their hair and make-up budget.

The Club invited Rose Institute of Cosmetology to facilitate a talk at the Cebu Corporate Center on personal care. As a group, AWC understands and values its members’ ultimate goal behind the event and that is to promote individual development not only on a professional but also on a personal level.

The talks focused on self care, correct skin care routines, and a hair and makeup workshop. AWC members found out more about make-up do’s and don’ts based on one’s face shape and skin color. Also, the Rose Institute facilitators demonstrated the difference between DIY and full make-up, using make-up tools or simply using our own hands.

The main value behind the event was that doing what you can to look good — e.g. by using make-up to stay looking young, fresh, and attractive — is part of self care that enhances one’s appearance and boosts confidence and self esteem.

At the end of the forum, the Club’s president surprised the members and guests with free hair and make-up and consultation also with Rose Institute.

AWC Christmas Party

With Club members already made up and ready to party, they immediately followed the workshop with their general assembly and Christmas party.

They started it off with a Zumba warm up before moving on to review their accomplishments for the year and a quick run through of policies.

As a special award, Ms. Gemma Bojos, AEV’s Building Administration Supervisor, was named best-dressed Club member for their theme ‘Christmas Colors’.

It was also the night to meet the new Club members who, after their self introduction, expressed their excitement in joining the club.
