Aboitiz Construction unveils Skills on Wheels Builders Hub

Aboitiz Construction launched the Skills on Wheels Builders Hub at The Outlets at Lipa last June 28. This mobile training center offers essential skills training in welding, pipefitting, and more, aiming to empower individuals and fill critical skills gaps in the construction industry.

Aboitiz Construction launched its pioneering Skills on Wheels Builders Hub during a ceremony held on June 28 at The Outlets at Lipa. The initiative, developed in partnership with Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and Metrologyx, aims to revolutionize the construction industry by directly bringing essential skills training and recruitment opportunities to communities across the Philippines.

The Skills on Wheels Builders Hub offers comprehensive training in Welding (GTAW, SMAW), Pipefitting, Industrial Pipefitting, Scaffolding, and includes the Welder’s Performance Qualification Test. It is designed to empower individuals with the skills necessary to excel in construction careers while supporting nationwide industry growth.

"This represents our latest innovation—a mobile training and recruitment center designed to bridge critical skills gaps within our industry. This initiative is not just about addressing challenges; it's about bringing tangible opportunities directly to communities throughout the country," said Aboitiz Construction Executive Director Antonio Peñalver.

TESDA Batangas Supervising Specialist Lhenie Aquilo expressed enthusiasm for the project, “This initiative will empower our workers, enhance productivity, and contribute to the overall progress of our nation. We thank Aboitiz Construction and everyone who contributed to making this vision a reality," she mentioned.

As part of the launch, Aboitiz Construction conducted a one-day recruitment drive for corporate and skilled job opportunities within the company.

"At Aboitiz Construction, our purpose is clear: to build for business prosperity and community thriving. We are committed to empowering Filipinos by building skills and capabilities that lead to rewarding careers," affirmed Aboitiz Construction Senior AVP for People and Corporate Shared Services Raizza Manuel.

Aboitiz Construction also partnered with several government agencies to enhance the recruitment experience, offering on-site kiosks for expedited processing of employment requirements such as NBI clearances, SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, and PSA documents.

Aboitiz Construction's commitment to skills training and employment extends beyond Lipa. Recently, the firm partnered with BJMP Region 10 to provide job opportunities and rehabilitation support to Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs). Moreover, earlier this year, Aboitiz Construction collaborated with TESDA Bukidnon and Maces Skills Training Institute, Inc. to offer training and employment to residents of Malaybalay City, who are now employed at the company's maintenance project site in Surigao del Norte.

The unveiling of the Skills on Wheels Builders Hub marks another milestone in Aboitiz Construction's efforts to empower individuals through skills development and provide meaningful employment opportunities in the construction sector.

Following its launch, the initiative has a scheduled itinerary for the coming months, with Guihulngan City in Negros Oriental as its inaugural destination. Further updates on future locations to be visited by the facility will be announced via the company’s website at www.aboitizconstruction.com and official recruitment Facebook page at @CareersAtAboitizConstruction.
