As the Aboitiz Group transforms into the Philippines’ first techglomerate, we recognize that clear, honest sustainability reporting is critical to building the future we envision.

Aboitiz Equity Ventures (AEV) joined global experts at the Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) 58th Annual Meeting in Milan, Italy, for a high-level dialogue on sustainability reporting. Representing both the Aboitiz Group and the Philippine private sector, AEV participated in the ADB-led session, “Unlocking the Power of Sustainability Disclosure,” which explored how transparent and reliable ESG reporting can drive a stronger, more resilient Asia-Pacific.

Ginggay Hontiveros-Malvar, AEV’s Chief Reputation and Sustainability Officer, joined fellow panelists from Italy’s Ministry of Economy and Finance, ANT Group, the International Sustainability Standards Board, and other global institutions to discuss how sustainability disclosures directly influence business decisions, climate-related investments, and stakeholder confidence.

Ginggay Hontiveros-Malvar shares how the OneNewAboitiz Sustainability Framework guides the Group in turning ESG commitments into real, measurable impact across its diverse businesses.

“As the Aboitiz Group transforms into the Philippines’ first techglomerate, we recognize that clear, honest sustainability reporting is critical to building the future we envision,” said Hontiveros-Malvar. “It’s not just about meeting regulations—it’s about sharing our journey, aligning our values with our actions, and creating long-term value for our stakeholders and communities.”

The session also highlighted how the ADB is helping developing member countries (DMCs) adopt robust disclosure practices and green finance tools to meet climate goals.

ADB President Masato Kanda acknowledged the region’s challenges—from debt burdens to climate change—but emphasized that these uncertainties are also a powerful call to action. “Uncertainty is not a reason for retreat,” he said. “It is a call to be bolder, to move faster, and to work more closely than ever before.”

Panelists and speakers gather at the Asian Development Bank’s session “Unlocking the Power of Sustainability Disclosure” during the 58th ADB Annual Meeting in Milan, Italy on May 7, 2025. Representing the Philippine private sector, Aboitiz Equity Ventures’ Chief Reputation and Sustainability Officer Ginggay Hontiveros-Malvar (3rd from left) joins global leaders in advancing transparency and sustainable development across Asia and the Pacific.

AEV’s participation strongly aligns with its OneNewAboitiz Sustainability Framework, which embeds ESG principles into the Group’s operations, decision-making, and long-term growth strategy. Under this framework, each business unit—from power and banking to infrastructure and food—contributes to shared sustainability goals while addressing the unique needs of its stakeholders.

This commitment is reflected in real-world initiatives like CarbonPH, the flagship program of the Aboitiz Foundation. CarbonPH supports forest regeneration and carbon sequestration by leveraging science-based mapping and inclusive community participation. It not only contributes to the Philippines' climate targets but also provides meaningful livelihoods, raises environmental awareness, and strengthens local stewardship of natural resources.

“Through the OneNewAboitiz ESG framework, we align our sustainability disclosures with real, measurable impact,” Hontiveros-Malvar added. “Initiatives like CarbonPH aren’t just checkboxes on a report—they reflect our values in action. That’s the kind of transparency and accountability we want to champion.”

With the region facing increasing expectations around ESG performance, AEV’s engagement in global dialogue reflects its leadership in raising the bar for Philippine businesses and ensuring that sustainability remains a shared responsibility—from the boardroom to the barangay.
