Hedcor and Therma South Pool Resources to Support Mindanao Communities Against Pandemic
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, two Davao-based business units of AboitizPower have decided to pool their resources and forge closer partnerships with the local government to provide for the immediate needs of their host communities.
Together with Aboitiz Foundation, power generation companies Hedcor and Therma South delivered some 100 sacks of rice, ready-to-eat food, and other essential supplies to partner local government units (LGUs). These include the Municipality of Sta Cruz, the province of Davao del Sur, the City of Digos, and Davao City.

Dako kaayo ning tabang nga gikan sa Aboitiz Group sa atong mga kaigsoonang frontliners. Ilabi na sa karon nga lisod kaayo ang kahimtang kay aduna pay mga na dugang nga kaso sa COVID-19. (This is a big help coming from the Aboitiz Group for our frontliner brothers and sisters, especially now in this difficult situation when COVID-19 cases continue multiplying.)
– Mayor Jaime Lao Jr., Santa Cruz, Davao del Sur
Hedcor and Therma South are also working to strengthen communities against infection, turning over hand soaps and bottles of bleach to aid in community and facility-wide disinfection efforts. Complementing these initiatives, 300 units of digital thermometers have been turned over to the Davao local government, with the two companies pledging to hand over additional medical equipment to partner LGUs as soon as supplies become available.
Other items, such as folding beds as well as basic supplies like pails and wash basins have also been turned over to improve temporary shelters in the community.

On top of these relief efforts, the Department of Energy announced that the LGUs mentioned can use ER1-94 funds under Reforestation, Watershed Management, and Health & Environment Enhancement Fund (RWMHEEF) to procure medical supplies to aid them in the COVID-19 crisis. Hedcor and Therma South contribute to this fund.
The Aboitiz Group is one with the government and our brave medical and security frontliners who are working hard to defeat COVID-19. We are committed to supporting the COVID-19 frontliners for the long term.
