Aboitiz Extends Lifeline To Clients and Customers Amid COVID-19
The Aboitiz Group continues to monitor developments surrounding the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) and is already taking measures to help ease the burden on clients and customers while ensuring unimpeded delivery of service.
AboitizPower distribution units Visayan Electric, Davao Light, Cotabato Light, and Subic EnerZone are giving a 30-day payment extension for bills for due dates from March 15 to April 14, 2020. Scheduled power interruptions will also be limited to customer requests and vital line maintenance.
Business continuity plans have been put in place to ensure adequate and reliable supply and distribution of electricity. AboitizPower’s generation facilities continue to operate and are ready to provide enough power to the grid while distribution utilities are available 24/7 for queries and emergencies.

UnionBank is giving a 30-day extension on payments — without late fees — for credit cards, housing loans, auto loans, and quick loans to qualified customers. Instapay transfer fees have also been waived until April 14, 2020 as the bank encourages customers to “go digital” and “bank from home”.
CitySavings is doing the same with a 30-day loan payment moratorium for motorcycle loan borrowers in good standing. Moreover, beginning March 23, 52 CitySavings branches in Visayas and Mindanao and 38 branches in Luzon will be open from 9AM to 1PM.
Pilmico is ensuring continued operation of and unhampered production in its flour, feeds, and farm facilities to contribute to food supply stability in areas affected by the community quarantine. It is also leveraging digital platforms to continue serving partners and customers through online consultations on baking, livestock raising, nutrition, and others.
Apo Agua Infrastructura, Aboitiz InfraCapital’s business unit behind the Davao City Bulk Water Supply Project, is working with its partners and stakeholders to ensure minimal disruption to the ongoing construction of its facility. It continues its commitment to full transparency and continues to inspect active worksites around the city to adhere to local government's precautionary measures.
Lima Water Corporation in Batangas, a subsidiary of Aboitiz InfraCapital, ensured 24/7 available potable water and industrial wastewater treatment to industrial locators and commercial establishments of LiMA Park that are still operating.
AboitizLand waived one month's rent for tenants of its malls in Luzon and Visayas and extended payment deadlines for bills issued in the previous month. Through this financial relief, partner merchants will be able to extend help to their own employees during the community quarantine.
At commercial properties such as The Outlets at Lipa, strict adherence to hygiene and social distancing protocols are being monitored along with hourly sanitation and disinfection of premises to protect everyone entering its supermarkets, banks, and restaurants, which remain open for deliveries and take outs.
For its residential business, AboitizLand is also providing equity payment extensions for accounts with due dates that fall between March 16 to April 15, 2020. Related penalties and fees have also been waived for transactions within this period. Meantime, the microstudio rental apartments it operates with Point Blue also reduced the minimum lease term for all units – from three months to one month — and offer safer alternative housing for people who have long daily work commutes. This also benefits companies such as BPOs continue operations.
Aboitiz Construction (ACI), with 13 project sites continuing in operations, is observing strict precautionary measures and is working with partners to complete expansion efforts at Davao International Container Terminal. It has deployed a skeletal workforce at the Philippine Coastal Storage and Pipeline Corporation in Subic and the Technimont JGC Venture construction of its high-density polyethylene unit in Batangas.
Collectively, these measures take-up the call for public-private collaboration as a key to mitigate the widespread impact of COVID-19 and keeping the economy moving.
