Hedcor, Luzon Hydro Deliver PHP1M Worth of Food and Medical Donations to Luzon Frontliners

In support of the global fight against COVID-19, Hedcor has delivered some one-million-peso worth of food and medical donations to the brave individuals at the frontline. The company delivered rice, canned goods, coffee, sugar, batteries and disinfectant to frontliners based in Benguet, Mountain Province, and Ilocos Sur.

As COVID-19 forces most of the world to stay at home, healthcare, security personnel and other employees that continue to work have taken on the ultimate risk by staying at the forefront and making untold sacrifices to flatten the curve. To support these modern-day heroes, Hedcor pledges to provide additional medical equipment such as surgical masks, nitrile gloves, alcohol and infrared digital thermometers to partner LGUs as soon as supplies become available.

In response to the assistance, Tuba Mayor Clarita Sal-ongan expressed gratitude for the relief packs distributed to her constituents. “Agyaman kami iti tulong nga inted yo, Hedcor! (We thank you for this help you gave, Hedcor!)” she said.

The Tuba municipality is also one of the many recipients of Hedcor’s relief efforts.

Luzon Hydro also donated free medicine and vitamins to the Alilem municipality in Ilocos Sur, a town that’s two-hour drive from the next regional hospital. In response, Municipal Mayor Velmor Sumabat expressed her gratitude, “On behalf of the Alilemians, we would like to thank you for the goods you delivered — much appreciated.”

On top of these relief efforts, the Department of Energy announced that these LGUs can use ER1-94 funds under Reforestation, Watershed Management, and Health & Environment Enhancement Fund (RWMHEEF) to procure medical supplies that will aid in the COVID-19 crisis. Hedcor’s run-of-river hydropower plants and Luzon Hydro’s 70-MW Bakun AC run-of-river hydropower plant contribute to this fund.
