Aboitiz InfraCapital Water co-presented the 4th Iloilo City International Coastal Cleanup at Villa Beach with partners and community volunteers to advance marine protection.
ILOILO CITY — Aboitiz InfraCapital (AIC) Water joined hands with various local stakeholders as a co-presenter of the 4th International Coastal Cleanup in Iloilo City, reaffirming AIC Water’s commitment to creating cleaner and healthier environments for communities.
Held at Villa Beach—an iconic shoreline that spans five barangays across Iloilo’s 19-kilometer coastline—the initiative rallied over 3,000 participants from AIC Water, The 8 Villa Beach House, University of the Philippines Visayas, MORE Power, and other local civic organizations who collected 7,460 kilograms of marine waste over two days.
“Caring for Iloilo’s coasts and waterways is vital to sustaining both the community and its natural resources. By working hand in hand with local partners, we are helping ensure cleaner seas and a healthier environment for future generations of Ilonggos,” said AIC President and Chief Executive Officer Cosette V. Canilao.
More than a cleanup, the event underscores the shared responsibility of protecting Iloilo’s coasts and waterways—an effort that requires communities, civic groups, and private partners working hand in hand.
Beyond the Shoreline
AIC Water’s support for the International Coastal Cleanup reaffirms its commitment to being Iloilo’s partner in its long-term socio-economic growth.
Recently, AIC Water was awarded original proponent status by the Iloilo City Government for its PHP 5.17 billion 86 MLD bulk water supply project proposal to help address the growing demand for potable water in the city. The bulk water proposal is expected to complement existing water services, to enhance the city’s water security and economic growth. At present, the project is now in its advanced stages.
Together with the Aboitiz Foundation, AIC Water donated 50 water filtration systems to provide up to 1 million gallons of safe drinking water to underserved communities in the city.
The company also participated in the RMN River Festival, a week-long cultural celebration honoring Iloilo’s river heritage and highlighting the importance of ecological balance. The company also noted the importance of securing water sources to ensure long-term growth in the city for future generations.
These initiatives reflect AIC Water’s holistic approach to sustainability while supporting the province’s economic potential through providing access to safe and potable water.
The success of the 4th International Coastal Cleanup stands as a testament to what Iloilo can achieve when sectors unite: cleaner seas today, and a thriving environment for generations to come.
