Representatives from Visayan Electric, AboitizPower Distribution Utilities, and Cebu Technological University present the signed Memorandum of Agreement and Understanding for the research and scholarship program.
Officials from Visayan Electric, AboitizPower Distribution Utilities (APDU), and Cebu Technological University (CTU) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) last July 28 to solidify their commitment to education, research, and industry collaboration.
This formal alliance between CTU and APDU allows the university’s electrical engineering students to apply for scholarships, perform research initiatives, and gain industry experience through its subsidiary, Visayan Electric.
The MOA establishes support for the university’s students by providing financial aid and practical training through APDU’s subsidiary, Visayan Electric.
Selected scholars will receive educational subsidies to finish their degree programs and prepare for their board examinations.
“Our partnership focuses on empowering students through training, research, and scholarships—giving them the tools to build a sustainable future,” said Engr. Mark Anthony Kindica, OIC- President and General Manager of Visayan Electric.
Engr. Kindica added that the Visayas region holds great potential, and this industry-academe linkage creates an environment where knowledge and innovation can thrive.
The MOU formalizes CTU’s collaboration with Visayan Electric, offering students direct opportunities to conduct research and work alongside industry professionals.
Dr. Gregorio Pajaron Jr., CTU Campus Director, emphasized that this partnership also aims to strengthen community engagement and uplift local areas through education.
“The initiatives that will arise from this collaboration will serve not only our students and faculty, but will extend their benefits to communities through energy conservation programs and public awareness initiatives,” Dr. Pajaron Jr. added.
By bridging the gap between academia and industry, CTU, APDU, and Visayan Electric aim to develop future-ready engineers who can co-create solutions tailored to community needs.
