Imagine a dynamic team where functional expertise seamlessly intertwines with digital capabilities.
In a significant stride towards embracing agile methodologies and fostering professional growth, AboitizPower successfully launched its very own Scrum Chapter on August 4, 2023. This event brought together members of the initial Scrum Chapter, ongoing and upcoming agile squads, and those keen on agile practices.

The launch event featured nearly 80 team members who have opened up their minds into the world of agile. Seven dynamic AP squads shared their experiences, shedding light on how Agile Ways of Working (Agile WOW) have positively impacted their projects.
The AP Scrum Chapter emerges as a subchapter of the #OneNewAboitiz Scrum Chapter—a community of agile practitioners committed to fostering learning opportunities and creating an environment for advancing agile capabilities across the Group.

—Vera Delos Santos, Talent Optimisation Lead, Therma Marine
“The GT stories from the squad members are definitely worth hearing and it energizes our minds that transformation really begins with me,” she added.
The introduction of Agile WOW propels the organization towards its goal of creating a workforce adept in multiple skills. This transformation envisions a future where functional teams possess both their core competencies and digital capabilities. This dual expertise—ranging from citizen data scientists to agile scrum masters—facilitates agile team formation for specific missions, ensuring agility and speed in execution.
Agile helps us satisfy our customers which is our highest priority. Because of the daily stand-ups or huddles, we are able to see our achievements and at the same time, learn from our failures quickly.
—Maria Kimberly Terbio, AP Renewables Inc.
“Through the help of our Scrum Master, we developed better project management skills — giving importance to accountability, commitment, and risk-based ways of creating solutions,” Terbio explained.
The path forward involves the cultivation of a robust team of scrum masters and agile coaches within AP, accompanied by the onboarding of numerous squads into the Agile WOW framework. The strategy aligns seamlessly with the 4Es of Learning, integrating the New Way of Working with a New Way of Learning. The unveiled capability plan encompasses three progressive levels: Basic, Advanced, and Master, providing a comprehensive roadmap for skill enhancement.
AP’s Scrum Chapter launch signifies an essential leap forward, one that underlines the organization’s commitment to innovation, collaboration, and continuous growth. By embracing the agile mindset and equipping its workforce with the tools to succeed, AP sets the stage for an agile revolution as it embodies its massive transformative purpose of Transforming Energy to A Better World.
