The Great Transformation

#LearningLunes: Harnessing the Power of the Entrepreneurial Mindset

Our virtual buddy CHRis got in touch with our A-People to better gauge our understanding and sentiments on the Great Transformation. Suffice to say, the insights we received were truly enlightening. Most of our team members and leaders identified the entrepreneurial mindset as an important behavior that is needed to achieve the goals of the GT. It is the mindset that will shape us not only as members, but as owners of this collective vision.

Having an entrepreneurial mindset involves a mix of different factors. Setting goals and being accountable, being open to learning new ideas and unlearning old practices, taking intelligent risks, and collaborating with others are just a few of the things that help us develop and embrace it.  As Rachelle illustrated, much as bushfires allow for new growth, there are times when we need to be exposed to great heat in order to grow, be resilient in the face of change and develop better versions of ourselves, of course, guided by our philosophy of putting the customer first in all parts of the process.

In line with our commitment to the GT, AEV Corporate HR will be holding a series of initiatives to drive the entrepreneurial mindset, starting with the info session held last June 13 on Harnessing the Power of the Entrepreneurial Mindset. This session was done in partnership with PeopleStrong and features guest speaker Rachelle Tulloch.

Rachelle is a seasoned learning and development professional and certified neuro-resilience coach with a focus on the practice of improving individual and group performance by increasing and honing skills and knowledge. She has extensive experience in education and consulting for small to large corporations, and stakeholder engagement and business relationship-building for the non-profit sector.

The session further strengthened the message from SuperDuperCon S03E05: The New Aboitiz: Agile Like an Entrepreneur, and explored the five characteristics of our entrepreneurial mindset and practical exercises that we can do to practice each of them in our daily activities.

I loved how this session was a breath of fresh air from the norm of webinars and meetings that we have. It was very engaging even when it ran for 1.5 hours, as seen through the chat activity. Rachelle’s openness and authenticity was inspiring. Through her, we are geared with another armor that will get us through achieving the Great Transformation; that is having an entrepreneurial mindset. It’s not just a set of beliefs but a discipline that can get us through our goals — be it in our career or in our personal lives.  As new blood in the company, sessions like this continue to spark my understanding and embodiment of the Aboitiz’ virtues. I feel that my existence, no matter how puny it seems, contributes to the greater good.

The session was well-attended by almost 400 virtual viewers across the business units.  If you missed this episode, you may rewatch it here. Please stay tuned as well for a #LearningLunes session on Managing Change on a personal level and other exciting episodes on the Great Transformation!
