Dear Fellow Readers & Learners,

We have been receiving many requests for ideas on what to read with some guidance so I will send you what I read that I think is worth it and why.

There is no doubt in my mind that, at slight above any average intelligence, learning has to be the most satisfying way to invest time. There is less doubt yet that competitive advantage comes from doing things better and differently. That is difficult without learning. And, there is less doubt yet that learning compounds at a very rapid rate.

Today’s opportunities to read come in a number of forms that eliminate any excuse not to read. The famous clumsy out, which is “I do not have time”, is a purification of, maybe, not too smart.

One can read the traditional way — from a book. The skill that enhances this manner is speed reading. One does not have the time not to learn to speed read. Some books are best enjoyed and maximised by reading them off paper.

One can read from Kindle. This is particularly valuable when one travels. There is the very large benefit of looking up the meaning for words with one click. You add to this Whisper and it becomes the most effective tool to study a subject that one is reading. One can underline and review after.

Then comes Audible for books that can be listened to on the treadmill, in the car, and on the way to anything. This is for books that are lighter and do not need much study. This — and the recorder on an Apple Watch to remind you of important points and/or words to look-up — can be useful.

Lastly, summaries to be reviewed periodically. Books that matter can be perused in small letters to remind one. Read, on paper or on Kindle, Yuval Harari and re-read them on summary yearly is valuable.

This book below, for example, is an Audible Book. It does not need a review. This is a priority two book that gives you a good feel of what the experience of a president of the United States is. You have to filter what he says but it is well worth reading. You can listen to it at speed 1.7 as Obama speaks very  clearly  and poetically. He entwines his personal life, his reflections, the job and the people around him.
