Adel Tamano; and Chief Technology Officer Ret. MGen. Rodolfo Santiago during a ceremonial signing event.
AdventEnergy, the retail electricity supply arm of AboitizPower, has entered into a strategic partnership with telecommunications company DITO Telecommunity by providing electricity to 1,642 of its cell towers, which amounts to an aggregated energy demand of 13.8 megawatts (MW).
The cell towers are mostly located in the Greater Manila, South Luzon, and North Luzon areas. These facilities enable DITO to help its 15-million subscriber base to stay connected through a fast 5G network. Leveraging the power of choice, DITO strengthens its operations and maximizes savings that can be reinvested in enhancing connectivity and customer experience.
Reliable power is the lifeline of the telecommunications industry, DITO Telecommunity President and CEO Eric Alberto emphasized, noting how, through AdventEnergy, DITO can further strengthen its digital-first, future-ready network.
“Our partnership with AdventEnergy goes more than just an energy supply contract,” he said. “This is an investment that will keep millions of Filipinos connected, informed, and empowered in today’s fast-paced digital world.”
Through the Energy Regulatory Commission’s Retail Aggregation Program (RAP), enterprises with multiple facilities within a contiguous area may combine their electricity demand to meet the 500-kilowatt (kW) threshold required to participate in the competitive retail electricity market.
“At AdventEnergy, we believe innovation should always be at work to support the industries that keep Filipinos in touch and our nation moving,” said AdventEnergy President James Yu. “Partnering with DITO Telecommunity allows us to showcase how energy solutions can power critical industries such as telecommunications, reliably and at scale.”
Aboitiz Group President and CEO Sabin Aboitiz said that the partnership positions the group’s goal of strengthening its portfolio of partners, ensuring it continues to advance businesses and communities.
“We are not only delivering reliable and sustainable energy but also synergizing to create solutions that benefit generations to come. This is especially important in a predominantly digital world,” Aboitiz said.
“With AdventEnergy’s support, we are better positioned to deliver reliable digital services to every Filipino while caring for our environment and future generations,” added DITO Telecommunity Chief Revenue Officer Atty. Adel A. Tamano.
Enabling partners across industries with smarter, more efficient, and integrated energy solutions has always been at the core of AdventEnergy’s “Always-on Innovation” philosophy. Guided by it, it continues to support the RAP by enabling reliable, future-ready energy solutions. This strongly resonates with DITO’s own thrust, sharing the belief that innovation and forward-thinking solutions are key to empowering communities and driving sustainable progress.
