Meet Joshua Dela Cruz, a GT Storyteller and a rising star in Aboitiz Construction (ACI). Starting from scratch in the industry, Joshua joined ACI through their Apprenticeship Program, where he soaked up knowledge like a sponge. Through a series of rotations and site visits, he went from a construction novice to an expert on financials, scheduling, scoping, and all things commercial.
As he pursues his own personal Great Transformation, he consistently challenges himself to think innovatively and find more efficient ways to achieve his goals. I joined the company as part of ACI’s first ever Apprenticeship Program. Basically, I had very limited knowledge of construction industry’s processes and concepts so each day presented a valuable learning opportunity for me. It was a constant journey of growth and development.
After rotating through six departments and various project sites in the span of a year, I now handle the financial, schedule, scoping, and all the commercial aspects of a project, I’m driven to give my best as I always keep in mind that my deliverables hold millions of pesos in value. It motivates me to create the most satisfactory outcomes for our clients— as satisfied clients not only mean more business and project opportunities for ACI, but also more job opportunities for the local communities we serve.
In the pursuit of great transformation, I consistently challenge myself to think innovatively and find more efficient ways to achieve my goals. I actively raise suggestions to improve processes, eliminate unnecessary steps, and encourage my colleagues to embrace digitalization. After all, it’s about pushing boundaries and striving for excellence.
